Age groups

Our 110-place setting is split into 6 rooms, with different rooms designed to cater to different age groups. Our child-centred approach means that children transition between rooms when they are ready, not just based on their age.

Woodville Day Nursery & Pre-school

Baby Room 1

(6 weeks – 18 months)

In our baby room they take part in many multi-sensory experiences to boost their awareness of the world around them. Our staff follow your baby’s individual routine at nursery providing a smooth transition from home to nursery life.
The babies have access to their very own garden where they can explore the natural world and enjoy walks to the local park.

Baby Room 2

(15 – 24 months)

At this age, children start to benefit from a general routine with free play sessions, snack time and other age appropriate activities. In our dining area, our nurturing staff help the children learn to feed themselves, bolstering their independence as they grow.

Toddler Room

(24 – 36 months)

The Toddler Room is set up daily with stimulating activities across all areas of learning and development including Role play, Mathematics, ICT, Construction, Mark making, Messy play and Creative activities. Adult-led activities also take place alongside free play each day for more targeted support with meeting next steps in learning.

We have found this is the age group where the children start showing an interest in potty training; our staff are skilled in this area and will work closely with parents to ensure continuity of routine. Social skills and peer relationships are fostered through group activities and during meal times.

Pre-school Rooms

(30 – 60 months)

Our 3 Pre-school rooms begin to prepare children for their transition to primary school. Activities planned by the staff introduce them to letters and numbers and encourage them to explore technology. The children take part in group activities such as gathering time at the beginning of the session, story and circle times during the day and weekly PE lessons. The children have free flow access to our safe outdoor garden and often take walks in the community and local park.
