Full day care for children 3 months to 5 years in Urmston and Davyhulme

Welcome to Old Crofts Bank Nursery and Pre-school located in Urmston close to many schools and motorway networks.

Established in 1997 our homely nursery aims to create a caring and nurturing environment for all our children within the setting. Our staff, many of whom have been with us for over 10 years, have a vast knowledge and experience of caring and educating children in the early years.

Our warm and inviting setting where we provide a wide range of activities for the children and such activities are planned with children’s individual needs and interests at heart. We are extremely proud of our nursery team, the reputation we have built over the years and the caring and stimulating environment we have created; and pleased to be recognised as a ‘Good’ setting by Ofsted.

We understand choosing a nursery for your precious little ones can be a daunting time for you, but our aim is to not only make our children feel safe and cared for, but also you the parents/guardians too.

Age groups

Our nursery is split into 6 rooms, with each room devoted to caring for a specific age range. We’ve designed our nursery so that children move between rooms when they are ready, not based on when their birthday is.

Here at Old Crofts Bank Nursery, our days are not rigidly structured but all rooms try to keep to a routine which the children can recognise and anticipate. A familiar routine helps to ensure that your child is happy and secure.

Old Crofts Bank Day Nursery

Flopsy Bunnies Room

( 3 – 13 months)

In our youngest room, babies are cared for by 3 long-standing members of staff who create a calm, safe and nurturing environment for all our little ones. Babies enjoy a range of activities and are supported in reaching their next steps of development.

French doors open on to their own outdoor play area where babies have the opportunity to explore at any time of the day.

Mrs Tittlemouse & Timmy Tiptoes Rooms

(12 – 24 months)

Our toddler rooms are adapted to suit the needs and interests of our mobile babies and toddlers. The rooms are separated into 2 groups, older children and younger children. The children have a dedicated messy room, where they engage in a variety of activities tailored to their individual interests.

Mrs Tiggywinkle Room

(24 – 30 months)

The Mrs Tiggywinkle Room is our larger toddler room with a range of continuous provisions that promote independence and create opportunities for children to build their confidence. Staff work alongside parents when they are ready to start with toilet training.

Squirrel Nutkin Room

(30 – 38 months)

This room is situated upstairs and is set up a little more like a young pre-school room, all resources are accessible to the children daily. The staff will plan activities for the children according to the child’s interests. We have found this is the age group where the children start showing an interest in potty training; our staff are skilled in this area and will work closely with parents to ensure continuity of routine. Social skills and peer relationships are fostered through group activities and during meal times.

Peter Rabbit Room

(36 – 60 months)

The pre-school room has its own bathroom where children are encouraged to use it by themselves in preparation for the transition to primary school. Activities planned by the staff introduce them to letters and numbers. The room has a wide range of continuous provisions and all activities are tailored for the children as individuals. Our pre-schoolers access the outdoor space at any time of the day as we have a separate area with more challenging equipment and also a knowledge and understanding area.

Sessions

Our nursery and pre-school is open for 51 weeks of the year, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. We are closed on bank holidays and for a week between Christmas and New Year.

  • Full Day Session: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Morning Session: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

The staff at Old Crofts Bank are what make the nursery. My child is well loved and cared for and really enjoys attending. She is always full of smiles when we drop her off and pick her up.
